La ricerca fa parte di una serie di iniziative del progetto SPIRE, il cui scopo è facilitare la creazione di una rete di utenti early adopter del web 2.0 nel Regno Unito.
Il progetto nasce da una collaborazione fra JISC, che si occupa di innovazione nelle attività di didattica e ricerca e TALL (The Technology-Assisted lifelong Learning) dell’università di Oxford assieme alla Pennsylvania State University.
La ricerca è stata promossa Department for Continuing Education’s (sempre dell’Università di Oxford), che ha svolto un sondaggio su 1400 utenti dei propri corsi online.
Curiosità: il sondaggio online è stato svolto usando una famosa applicazione web 2.0 per i sondaggi che si chiama Survey Monkey.
