La scorsa settimana (precisamente il giorno di San Giuseppe), sono stato ospite dal corso Social Media Lab organizzato presso l’Università IULM di Milano dove ho tenuto un piccolo seminario dal roboante titolo “Social Media Analytics”, dove ho introdotto gli studenti – tutti molto svegli e piuttosto interessati all’argomento – alle gioie e ai dolori delle metriche e delle tecniche di rilevazione delle conversazioni in rete.
In realtà non ho solo parlato delle conversazioni, ma di tutte le attività sociali che prendono vita nei social media.
Il risultato sono le slide di cui sopra.
Sono partito da due filoni per approcciarmi alla questione: da un lato il ruolo del marketing nel mettere a punto strumenti di rilevazione di questi servizi online, dall’altro ho provato (con molta difficoltà e con i piedi di piombo) di contestualizzare queste strategie di ricerca sociale, all’interno della mappa delle tecniche di ricerca delle scienze sociali (frutto di un bellissimo saggio di Luca Ricolfi).
Di solito sono un pignolo sistematico quando affronto i temi per un seminario, in questo caso invece ho navigato a vista: un po’ perchè la materia è spaventosamente vasta, un po’ perchè non ho ancora ben chiaro come impostare la questione.
Oltre a qualche technicality, ho affrontato anche questioni spinose per quanto riguarda le metriche e il loro senso, del tipo: se un tizio ha 500 e passa contatti su Facebook cosa vuol dire? Che è popolare? Che sta facendo promozione? Che è un digital influencer?
E via di questo passo.
Se tra di voi c’è qualcuno interessato a leggerle e studiare le slide, mi raccomando di farmi obiezioni, domande, sottolinearmi imprecisioni e tutto quanto possa essere utile per trasformare il canovaccio in un discorso strutturato.
