Se ieri ho parlato di documentari sul giornalismo fatto attraverso infografiche, visualizzazioni interattive e datamining, adesso è arrivato il momento di vedere qualche esempio di questo particolare modo di produzione delle notizie.

News Dots è un progetto di Slate Labs – la parte di giornalismo multimediale della famoso magazine online Slate – che ha lo scopo di sviluppare un modo completamente diverso di raccontare le notizie.

Infatti attraverso una mappa interattiva, gli elementi delle notizie – persone, luoghi, gruppi, società – sono rappresentate come dei punti colorati, connessi tra loro a seconda delle news che li vedono come protagonisti. Quindi se un aerco colega i due punti, vuol dire che i due elementi sono entrambi citati all’interno di almeno due news.
Il progetto è interessante perchè consente di vedere pattern non evidenti fra le diverse notizie che vengono diffuse a livello mondiale.

Non è la prima volta che viene usata questa particolare visualizzazione per elaborare un concetto interattivo di mappa delle news.
