Qualche settimana fa sono stato ospite del convegno “Scienza aperta per una ricerca migliore“, organizzato dall’Istituto Italiano di Antropologia e dalla Sapienza Università di Roma, nato per affrontare i temi dell’impatto delle nuove forme di ricerca scientifica – open access, open data – e del loro impatto sulla professione del ricercatore.
Il convegno prende le mosse da un dibattito sulla scienza aperta che è stato ospitato dal progetto ROARS (Return On Academic ReSearch) e il cui scopo è stato quello di mettere – simbolicamente – intorno a un tavolo le forze interessate a confrontarsi sul tema della scienza aperta.
Animatore, organizzatore e ospite del convegno è stato Giovanni Destro Bisol che assieme a Paolo Anagnostou e Roberto Caso hanno coordinato scientificamente e organizzativamente le attività del convegno.
Chair e relatore del primo giorno del convegno è stato Pietro Greco, che i più conosceranno come giornalista scientifico e voce di Radio Tre Scienza.
I temi sono stati davvero tanti e tutti legati alla ricerca scientifica: open data, linked open data, open access, open repository e così via dicendo.
Il mio intervento ha avuto come focus la scienza 2.0, ovvero i processi sociali che stanno alla base del nuovo modo di fare scienza che coinvolge l’uso delle piattaforme di social media, generaliste oppure specificamente dedicate (come Mendeley, Research Gate e così via dicendo).
Per chi mi segue, sa che l’integrazione fra ricerca scientifica e web partecipativo è una questione che mi affascina e che ho affrontato in diverse occasioni sia nel blog che in articoli scientifici o libri.

In particolare ho cercato di elaborare un modello degli attori che entrano in gioco quando si parla di integrazione fra ricerca scientifica e social media, non senza dimenticare alcune controversie che possono sorgere, come il ruolo di arXiv per la diffusione di scoop scientifici bypassando la peer review. Tema che – per inciso – ho anche trattato nel mio ultimo libro “Il computer come macroscopio”.
