Credo che tutti voi conoscete la Wayback Machine dell’Internet Archive.
E’ una applicazione che vi consente di vedere gli screenshot di una serie di servizi internet fin dal loro primo apparire in rete.

Zoetrope porta questo concetto ancora più avanti.
Sotto il nome Zoetrope si nasconde un progetto di ricerca dell’Università di Washington coordinato da Eytan Adar e dal suo gruppo di ricerca assieme ad Adobe, il cui scopo è quello di mettere a punto un browser in grado di visualizzare non solo come cambiano le pagine internet di un sito al variare del tempo, ma anche come si modificano singole porzioni di pagine internet rispetto al tempo (come banner, sommari, ecc.).
Attualmente il progetto è in beta avanzata, ma si prevede che il browser sarà rilasciato gratuitamente entro l’estate del 2009.

Una riflessione che riecheggia le categorie sintetiche a priori di Kant: finora i browser ci avevano permesso di muoversi nello spazio digitale rappresentato dalle connessioni ipertestuali delle pagine internet, con Zoetrope invece ci si può muovere perfino nel tempo.
