11 giugno 2010: sono cominciati i Mondiali di Calcio del Sudafrica.
Come credo sia facile immaginare, questi mondiali saranno anche i mondiali dei social media.
Il ragionamento è semplice: se i social media sono strumenti di partecipazione, e i mondiali sono eventi collettivi, i social media entreranno a far parte di questo evento collettivo.
Quello che mi interessa in questo post è fare una breve panoramica delle risorse online che consentiranno di seguire i Mondiali in maniera un po’ diversa, ovvero concentrandosi sulle visualizzazioni e sulle analisi delle informazioni e stavolta non solo del pubblico presente sui social media, ma anche delle partite.
Infatti non so se sapete che esistono diverse società specializzate nella data analysis delle partite di calcio.
Per esempio qui trovate la dashboard ufficiale FIFA per seguire in diretta web (senza video) l’andamento delle partite dei mondiali 2010.
Procediamo con ordine.
La prima cosa da fare è sapere alcune informazioni generali sulle partite: quando, dove e tra chi si svolgeranno.
Un aiuto in questa direzione lo può dare il calendario interattivo in flash Sudafrica 2010, messo a punto da Marca.com (testata online spagnola), dove è possibile avere informazioni su gironi, turni, squadre, date e persino l’orario di svolgimento della partita nell’ora locale del post da cui ci si collega.
Se invece siamo interessati ad un modo non banale di vedere le partite, come le analisi e le statistiche, ci sono diverse possibilità.
Visual sport è un sito di datasharing che consente di seguire le partite dei mondiali di calcio attraverso una serie di visualizzazioni in grado di mostrare ciò che i movimenti dei giocatori non sempre dicono.
Due sono gli strumenti chiave: il Compare Players Tool con cui è possibile confrontare le performance ai mondiali di calcio dei giocatori delle diverse squade in lizza, e il Live Match Timeline con cui seguire la partita in versione datamining, con la possibilità di incorporare (embed) entrambi gli strumenti in qualunque sito o blog. Per iPad invece consigliatissimo il sito Picklive Football (dalla cui homepage ho preso l’immagine all’inizio del post). Picklive nasce come videogioco (gratuito) che consente di giocare a Fantacalcio in tempo reale.
Da questo esempio, quelli di Mint (una società specializzata data design e autori di Picklive), hanno deciso di sviluppare una applicazione per iPad in modo da seguire sotto forma di statistiche, analisi, dataviz e altri giocherelli lo svolgimento delle partite di calcio in tempo reale.
Ancora la apps sembra non essere pronta, ma forse potrebbe esserlo per i quarti, semifinali e finale dei mondiali di calcio (perchè no?)
Infine qualcosa di interessante anche per gli scommettitori: Bayes Forecast Mundial Sudafrica 2010.
