Non suoni strano: esistono interi settori della medicina diagnostica che esistono grazie alla capacità delle macchine di vedere all’interno del corpo umano.

Le cose sono ancora più affascinanti quando ad essere analizzate sono i prodotti culturali, come i film.
E’ questo lo scopo di Cinemetrics.
Cinemetrics è il nome del progetto di laurea di Frederic Brodbeck presso la Royal Academy of Art de l’Aia, in Olanda.
Il progetto consiste nel disassemblare e riassemblare visivamente le componenti di un film per sviluppare una rappresentazione circolare che funga da impronta digitale del film.
In questo modo è possibile vedere elementi cromatici dominanti, elaborare statistiche sul linguaggio e così via dicendo.
