Facebook e propaganda bellica: più somiglianze che differenze [VIDEO]

Lo scorso 29 aprile 2014 nel mio dipartimento, il Dipartimento di Scienze Umanistiche dell’Università di Catania (DISUM), ha organizzato il suo secondo Open Day, una giornata di presentazione del Dipartimento, dei suoi corsi e dei suoi insegnamenti agli studenti degli ultimi anni dei principali licei catanesi.
L’obiettivo è – come illustra la pratica dell’Open day – essenzialmente di marketing: convincere gli studenti che vale ancora la pena iscriversi ad un corso di laurea di Scienze Umane, tra cui il corso di laurea in Scienze e Lingue per la comunicazione, per intenderci quello dove insegno io.

Fra le varie attività previste per l’Open day, c’è n’è stata una a mio avviso piuttosto simpatica: le cosiddette SimuLezioni.
Così come dice la crasi, sono state lezioni simulate, ovvero come potrebbe essere una lezione compressa in 20 minuti, giusto per far capire cosa si troveranno a studiare le future matricole, cercando di districarsi fra Filologia romanza, Archeologia e Lingue e letteratura giapponese.

Anch’io ho fatto una simulezione per raccontare agli studenti la materia che insegno nella laurea triennale e che si chiama Sociologia dei processi culturali e comunicativi.
Per cercare di essere il meno noioso possibile ho cercato un argomento che fosse legato alle materie che studiano l’ultimo anno, che avesse legami (forti) con la loro contemporaneità e infine che veicolasse l’idea che studiare il presente con le scienze sociali non vuol dire appiattirsi sul contemporaneo.
Allora ho deciso di parlare di come Facebook attualizzi le strategie di comunicazione della propaganda bellica della seconda guerra mondiale: ovvero Facebook e propaganda.

“Capire la propaganda bellica per capire Facebook” è il titolo della mia simulezione.
Dato che avevo solo 20 minuti, ho strutturato il ragionamento come un pitch da startup, in cui dopo una breve descrizione del tema chiave, ho fatto un confronto all’americana tra la propaganda bellica e la propaganda Facebook, illustrando il rapporto fra Facebook e propaganda.
Ovviamente per motivi di coerenza alcune cose sono state un po’ forzate, ma credo che nel complesso il ragionamento tenga.
