Lo scorso 28 giugno si è concluso il 15° appuntamento annuale dei CIO (responsabili reparto IT) italiani organizzato da Finaki, un’associazione internazionale che si occupa di mettere in contatto e organizzare gli incontri sui temi dell’information society.

Il titolo dell’incontro è stato “CIO: il prometeo digitale”, un titolo che sottende una interessante trasformazione nel modo di immaginare il ruolo del responsabile del reparto IT.
Usando le stesse parole di presentazione del convegno:

L’episodio del furto del fuoco da parte di Prometeo, nel racconto mitologico, funge dunque da simbolo di un
duplice progresso da parte del genere umano: l’affrancamento dal divino e la conquista degli strumenti che consentono
di prevalere sulla natura.

Di fronte alle rapide e turbinose trasformazioni di questa fase si ritiene necessaria, da parte del nuovo CIO, una valutazione oltremodo differente dei vecchi modelli organizzativi atta a modificare i comportamenti e le responsabilità della funzione informatica sulla base di nuovi paradigmi e di nuove variabili. Sarebbe ovviamente auspicabile che detta valutazione fosse il più possibile omnicomprensiva e tenesse cioè conto non solo del mondo aziendale proprio della struttura con tutte le sue componenti e i suoi stakeholder tradizionali, ma anche del più complesso ecosistema esterno all’azienda stessa.

L’evento si è svolto attraverso una serie di workshop paralleli che hanno avuto al loro centro la ricerca di nuovi modelli di valutazione di tipo organizzativo e tecnologico.
Il format di questi workshop è stato quello di aprire la discussione attraverso una breve intervista ad un esperto di temi legati alle tecnologie.
Il workshop dal titolo “C’è posto per il CIO umanista? Le competenze IT necessarie per assimilare l’invasione digitale”  coordinato da Gianluca Giovannetti (Amadori Group), Demetrio Migliorati (Banca Mediolanum) e Massimo Rosso (RAI), si è aperto con una mia video-intervista raccolta da Giorgio Fontana sui temi delle nuove competenze del manager IT.

Il mio contributo alla discussione sul tema si può sintetizzare nei seguenti punti:

1. Ruolo non centrale della componente tecnologica: il digitale è uno strato che si sovrappone alle altre competenze delle persone. La tecnologia ha una componente culturale molto profonda, più importante della componente artefattuale.

2. Per il responsabile IT una sensibilità umanistica e sociologica è strategica. La tecnologia tende a cambiare rapidamente perciò è meglio capire le traiettorie che la tecnologia descrive, l’orizzonte all’interno del quale le tecnologie si collocano.

3. La sicurezza in ambito informatico è un tema che deve essere affrontato in senso simbiotico fra il sistema tecnologico e il sistema sociale che usa la tecnologia.

4. I big data sono strumenti sociologici molto interessanti, ma il tema chiave al momento è come estrarre senso, come identificare il valore dei big data. Uno dei modi per farlo è mettere insieme competenze diverse in grado di intercettare le opportunità di queste informazioni strutturali.
