Una delle cose di cui sono piuttosto soddisfatto in questi ultimi mesi, è senza dubbio il mio libro “Sociologia dei media digitali” che ho pubblicato per la casa editrice Laterza qualche semestre fa e che mi ha dato tante cose di cui essere contento, tra cui il fatto che è appena stato ristampato, una cosa non da poco per un manuale di impostazione universitaria in un periodo in cui i libri sono sempre più digitali e sempre meno cartacei.

Come tutti i lavori di cui si è contenti, spesso le soddisfazioni arrivano anche in maniera imprevista, e il caso che sto raccontando è una di queste.

Infatti l’Istat ha deciso di organizzare una tavola rotonda per la presentazione del mio libro, un incontro che si svolgerà:

L’incontro si svolgerà come una tavola rotonda, con ospiti di un certo riguardo.
in primo luogo ci sarà il saluto di Tommaso di Fonzo, Direttore della Scuola superiore di statistica e di analisi sociali ed economiche, una costola dell’Istat che si occupa di promuovere il sapere statistico in ambito professionale e nel grande pubblico. Qui qualche info a riguardo.
Poi ci sarà un mio intervento dal titolo “La società dei media digitali. Processi comunicativi e forme della relazione sociale tra continuità e cambiamento”, in cui presenterò alcuni dei temi del libro, aggiornandoli.
Discuteranno il mio intervento Anna Masera, celebre nel mondo dei social media italiano in quanto social media editor de La Stampa, nonché protagonista di molti eventi su giornalismo e web partecipativo (come nell’appena concluso Festival Internazionale del giornalismo di Perugia).
Un’altra voce che discuterà il libro e il mio intervento sarà Emanuele Baldacci, Dipartimento per l’integrazione, la qualità e lo sviluppo delle reti di produzione e di ricerca (Istat), un dipartimento piuttosto attivo su diversi progetti molto attenti all’integrazione tra sapere statistico e digitale, come gli Open Data.

Un paio di osservazioni personali.

Sono molto contento di presentare il mio libro all’Istat, perchè il mio lavoro su social media e scienze sociali si sta affinando su temi come i Big Data e la Computational Social Science, quindi compatibili con il concetto di dato, misurazione e analisi quantitativa dei fenomeni.

Secondo poi, sono contento che l’Istat in un momento in cui sta osservando con molta attenzione i fenomeni legati al mondo digitali, abbia deciso di presentare il mio libro nonostante sia stato pubblicato alla fine del 2011, anche se credo che i temi che ho trattato non siano invecchiati, anche se magari un aggiornamento ci starebbe bene.
C’è un motivo preciso per cui l’Istat ha scoperto il mio libro, ed è questa intervista che mi è stata fatta dall’amico e collega Daniele Frongia, a cui va il mio ringraziamento.
