La scorsa settimana sono stato ospite del convegno “I mestieri della politica”, organizzato dalla collega Rossana Sampugnaro (@red_roxana) della facoltà di Scienze Politiche dell’Università di Catania.
Il concept del convegno è stato piuttosto interessante.
Quali sono le caratteristiche sociologiche e professionali del consulente politico in Italia?
Lo spin doctor esiste? Come viene usato? Le campagne elettorali sono cambiate con l’arrivo dei social media?
Tutte domande interessantissime di comunicazione politica, soprattutto perché oltre al mondo universitario erano presenti anche professionisti del settore che hanno portato la loro esperienza.

Io ho parlato del rapporto fra Big Data e politica.
Il mio ragionamento è stato il seguente.
Dopo aver descritto cosa sono i Big data, a cosa servono e come sono utilizzati dalla politica, ho passato in rassegna un paio di case study ovvero la recente ricerca di James Fowley (UCSD) su come l’influenza sociale agisce nell’aumentare la partecipazione elettorale anche attraverso Facebook, e la descrizione dell’uso dei Big data da parte dell’ultima campagna presidenziale di Barack Obama.
Ma sono solo rose e fiori?
Ovviamente no, alcuni dei problemi tecnoetici sollevati da questo rapporto sono: il Big Data Brother, la cloud security, la cyberdisinformazione.

Sottolineo che mi farebbe piacere avere indicazioni e suggerimenti sul rapporto Big data e politica da chi si occupa già di questo settore (io mastico più di bati che di politica).
